Asian Center for the Progress of Peoples (ACPP) - is a religiously-inspired and independent regional non-government organisation. Cultural Survival - helps indigenous peoples and ethnic groups deal as equals in their relations with national and international societies. Earth Policy Institute - Founded in May 2001 by Lester Brown, is dedicated to providing a vision of what an environmentally sustainable economy - an eco-economy - looks like, as well as a roadmap of how to get from here to there. Earth Policy is an independent, nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C. FIAN - The international human rights organisation for the right to food. Typically, FIAN intervenes when people are unjustly evicted from their lands and denied the possibility to feed themselves. In Asia, FIAN has branches in the Philippines, Sri Lanka and India (West Bengal, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Utar Pradesh). Human Rights Watch - dedicated to protecting the human rights of people around the world. We stand with victims and activists to bring offenders to justice, to prevent discrimination, to uphold political freedom and to protect people from inhumane conduct in wartime. We investigate and expose human rights violations and hold abusers accountable. HURIDOCS - facilitates human rights documentation work by: -developing tools and techniques for human rights monitoring and information handling (such as formats for the recording and exchange of information on documents and on human rights violations). -organising training courses and workshops on human rights information handling in co-operation with organisations involved in the network. Immigration and Refugee Services of America - IRSA along with it's national network of partner agencies, develops and manages education and assistance programs that help refugees resettle in the U.S. These programs help refugees recover from past trauma, gain personal independence and economic self-sufficiency, become contributing members of their new communities, and able participants in all aspects of American life. International Confederation of Free Trade Unions - The International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU) has 225 affiliated organisations in 148 countries and territories and has a membership of 157 million. It is the world's largest trade union organisation. The site contains information on trade union rights violations, child labour, multinationals, and links to unions worldwide. Indigenous Environmental Network - grassroots alliance of indigenous peoples whose mission is to protect the environment by through traditional teachings. International Finance Corporation - promotes sustainable private sector investment in developing countries as a way to reduce poverty and improve people's lives. Established in 1956, IFC finances private sector investments in the developing world, mobilizes capital in the international financial markets, and provides technical assistance and advice to governments and businesses. International Rescue Committee - A non-sectarian not-for-profit organization offering refugee relief protection and resettlement services for victims of oppression or violent conflict in the United States and around the world. The International Work Group for Indigenous Affairs - an independent international membership organization staffed by specialists and advisers on indigenous affairs. Based in Denmark, IWGIA supports indigenous peoples' human rights, self -determination, right to territory, control of land and resources, cultural integrity, and the right to development. Oriental Institute Research Archives Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) - Using medical and scientific methods, Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) investigates and exposes violations of human rights worldwide and works to stop them. PHR educates health professionals and medical, public health and nursing students and organizes them to become active in creating a culture of human rights in the medical and scientific professions. Project Underground - a US-based NGO that supports indigenous communities resisting oil and mining exploitation. In Asia, we collaborate with NGOs in the Phillipines and Indonesia in opposition to destructive gold mines owned by Newmont, the world's largest mining company. Reporters Without Borders (French, English and Spanish) - Provides vital information on infringements of press freedom. Visitors are introduced to the organisation and encouraged to join the struggle for press freedom. The home page, updated daily, provides latest reports on violations of press freedom worldwide and has links to the most recent protest letters sent by the organisation, mission reports and news of countries and regions where press freedom is flouted. The site includes various documents, available for download, on the state of press freedom worldwide: the Annual Report in full and in three languages, a world map showing at a glance those countries that are the worst offenders in violating the right to inform and to be informed, the monthly newsletter, the Press Freedom Barometer, which keeps track of the number of journalists killed, imprisoned and threatened, and petitions that can be signed online and sent to governments that flout press freedom.
